In the heart of Jackson, Wyoming is the pretty Town Square and on one corner of that square is the handsome Cloudveil.

This newly built hotel sits comfortably amongst the traditional verandas of this small western town, cleverly reflecting the architecture around it by using natural stone and wood from the rugged Wyoming landscape.

On the southern side of Jackson, Wyoming, at the foot of the Snow King Mountain is Snow King Resort. Conveniently located blocks from the town of Jackson’s famous antler arches, just a few minutes from Jackson Hole airport and Grand Teton National Park.

The Wyoming Inn of Jackson Hole is to the west of the town, just a little too far to walk to the centre but with plenty of amenities nearby.

An imposing and not attractive building from the outside it turns softer when inside with a gentle club-like Western theme created using rustic mountain tones and statement designs.

There are 69 rooms and suites continuing the lodge-inspired feel with soft lighting, subtle earth tones and wood trim giving the spaces a warm, very inviting coziness – all very similar to the more expensive hotels in the town.

Amenities include a decent fitness centre, a very cute hot tub and a really good restaurant serving excellent quality locally sourced cuisine. Overall, excellent value for money.

Out along the creek 1.2 miles west of central Jackson, Wyoming, is The Lodge at Jackson Hole. A large wood and stone chalet-style building themed in a mountain style with plenty of carved wood, stuffed animal trophies and antlers.

The rustic theme continues in the spacious guestrooms, some have fireplaces and sofas for those chilly Wyoming winters. Amenities include a spa, a very nice heated indoor/outdoor pool, a hot tub, sauna, and fitness centre.

There’s a warm lounge bar, although the on-site restaurant only serves breakfast. It’s a 30-minute walk into the centre of Jackson, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. A good summer or winter base from which to explore this beautiful region.

In the centre of Jackson, Wyoming, fronting the pleasant Miller Park and with glorious open views of East Gros Ventre Butte mountain is the unusually named, and unusually styled The White Buffalo Club.

The impressive Midwest façade of stone and wooden tiles gives way to a fabulously unique interior of leather, more wood, fur throws and interesting metal statement pieces.

Its craggy, solid ambience oozes courage and full-on ruggedness which should be too much to bear but works perfectly. The rooms and suites are spacious and equally as quirky and enjoyable in design – some have balconies and private hot tubs.

There’s a good fitness centre offering training classes and yoga and a nice day spa for a massage.

In keeping with the hotel’s robust atmosphere, there’s an on-site steakhouse serving locally sourced food with fine wines and good whiskies.

In the heart of Jackson, Wyoming, is the peculiarly named The Wort Hotel. Unusually bland on the outside, the inside is a riot of kitsch wild-west with plenty of chunky carved wood and yee-haw.

First opened in 1941, it’s a little dated but listed as a historic hotel, so I guess that’s ok. The speciality of this hotel is live bands entertaining in the bar most evenings. The Wort Hotel is a popular local venue for rousing music with a bit of stomping.

There are just 50 rooms and five suites available for when you’re all stomped out; each custom designed in the pseudo-wild-west theme and very comfortable after a few beers.

The rest of downtown Jackson is right outside, so it’s the perfect location to discover the delights of this really pretty town.

Just across Cache Creek, a couple of blocks from the centre of Jackson, Wyoming, is the Huff House Inn and Cabins, a charmingly presented historic inn with accommodation spread through a small collection of buildings from rooms in the old house to suites in a modern outbuilding.

Each room is uniquely styled in subtle shades creating a warm, homely environment. Outside there is a pretty, secluded garden patio with hot tub and gas firepits.

It’s a bed and breakfast (excellent breakfast, by the way), so there’s no on-site restaurant, but it’s less than 10 minutes to stroll into town where there’s a massive choice of good eateries. A highly recommended stopover for people who like small and personal without losing their comforts.

A charming, unassuming bed and breakfast just a block or so from the centre of Jackson, Wyoming. Guest rooms and suites are bright and simple, yet tastefully furnished, there’s a big dining hall for the generous breakfasts and a comfortable library to sit and relax.

Out front is a peaceful, pretty little garden for the summer months with a few bicycles to borrow and tour the town. Inside you will find a small fitness space and Finnish-style sauna.

It’s located on a quiet street close to amenities and, although there’s no dinner restaurant on-site, the owners have an Italian restaurant right across the street.

At first glance, this looks to be on the very edge of Jackson, Wyoming, yet surprisingly it’s less than 10 minutes walk from the central Town Square.

Inn On The Creek is a fabulous bed and breakfast with the Flat Creek river running right behind and paths into East Gros Vendre Butte mountain just across the adjoining bridge.

There’s a very good choice of high-standard rooms and suites, all much grander than expected from the exterior, all comfortably furnished, some with private terraces and views across the picturesque creek.

Between the Inn On The Creek and the river is their charming, serene terrace for famously good breakfasts or evening drinks at the end of a hard day adventuring in this beautiful landscape. A truly special place to stay.

Tucked among aspens and pine trees, this cozy cross between a motel and boutique bed-and-breakfast with lovely scenic views is a 5-minute walk from Jackson Town Square, and 1 mile from the National Elk Refuge.

Parkway Inn of Jackson Hole is an immensely pretty building with verandas and white weatherboarding overlooking Miller Park with just the Flat Creek separating it from East Gros Ventre Butte mountain.

The wide variety of rooms and suites are comfortably furnished in a rustic mountain décor with some interesting carved cabinetry.

On-site amenities include a small indoor pool and two hot tubs, and a spacious fitness centre with men’s and women’s saunas. There’s a small snack shop on site with coffee but no restaurant although, with so many eating places right outside it hardly matters.

High in the hills overlooking Jackson, Wyoming, is Spring Creek Ranch. Notably different from hotels in Jackson this place is comprised of suites, studios, entire homes, and villas perched around the hilltop in idyllic settings with fabulous panoramic views of the Teton Range.

Each separate building has private yards, patios, and balconies and is stuffed with all the necessities needed for a home-from-home. Everywhere is beautifully designed with comfortable, warm décor and quirky individuality.

Close enough to the amenities of Jackson, Wyoming, but far enough away to feel calm and remote is the Cowboy Village Resort.

A collection of great value, simple yet comfortable, log cabins full of modern conveniences surround a central building with an indoor pool, hot tub and fitness centre.

The cabins are different sizes, but all have kitchenettes, TVs, aircon, and some outside space. There’s no restaurant on-site but the wonderful restaurants, shopping, art galleries, and nightspots of Jackson are, at most, six short blocks away.

In winter there’s a free continental breakfast and shuttle to the ski slopes, in summer it’s just 15 minutes to Grand Teton National Park. Cowboy Village Resort isn’t luxurious, but is good, honest accommodation at reasonable prices – very useful if you have a family in tow.
